In 2020, UCDA sponsored the Second Annual Uniontown Regional Holiday Lighting Challenge and received 19 entries (1 business and 18 residential) plus enough donations to give each entrant a prize. All entry photos are shown below. Local businesses donated prizes and well as other local and not-so-local people who donated cash to purchase more prizes and cover expenses (stamps, envelopes, etc.). Entries and prizes received are listed below.
This event began in December 2019 when the Uniontown Community Development Association (UCDA – https://uniontownwa.org/community-development/) challenged all residents and property owners in and around Uniontown, Colton and Johnson to show off their “Holiday Spirit” and decorate their properties. This was the beginning of the First Annual “Uniontown Regional Holiday Lighting Challenge”. While we got off to a late start in 2019, we did get 2 business entries and 6 residential entries, and more than that in donated prizes.
Donations received in 2020 were: Home Depot Gift Card, Jacob’s Bakery Gift Cards, Moscow Food Coop Gift Card, “Plant in a Bottle” Gift Certificate, Sausage Dinner Certificate, Custom UI or WSU Masks, Artisans at the Barn Gift Shop Certificates, HeadQuarter’s Salon Certificate, Tail Waggin’ Adventures Certificate, Papy Murphy’s Pizza Certificates, Labor Credit of $240 from JW Construction, $50 off project from Scott’s Fix and Finish, and Colton Veterinary Clinic Certificate .
People in the community really outdid themselves. Driving around the area at night and viewing these beautiful displays really brought joy to all of us. Many thanks to all the helped make this project a success (the donors and the entrants), and a special thanks to Ashley Alred for originating the event.
