Since 1992 the community has revised the Comprehensive Plan and zoning to encourage small and home-based businesses, had a business development feasibility study completed by a planner who specializes in business development in rural communities, completed the rebuilding of the water mains and sidewalks on the main commercial street, and formed the Uniontown Community Development Association in 2001 to promote the improvement of the economic conditions in Uniontown.
